Wu Dong Qian Kun Season 05 Review

Wu Dong Qian Kun

Will the fifth season of Wu Dong Qian Kun be adapted into an adult version? That seems highly improbable, primarily due to two key reasons.

It’s been a while since the fourth season of “Lin Dong – Wu Dong Qian Kun” ended, and after its conclusion, many fans are eagerly waiting for updates, hoping for the release of the fifth season. Some enthusiasts speculate that the fifth season, similar to the adult version of “Battle Through The Heavens: Nian Fan“, will hit the screens soon. “Wu Dong Qian Kun” is a part of the Da Zhu Zai, Dou Po Cang Qiong trilogy, so the belief in this ability exists among many followers. Since an adult version of “Dou Po Cang Qiong” has already been produced, it is reasonable for fans to expect the same treatment as the “Wu Dong Qian Kun” anime.

However, in my personal opinion, Wu Dong Qian Kun Season 5 is unlikely to be adapted into an adult series. There are two main reasons behind this statement. Let’s see what those reasons are.

1. The insufficient production capacity of the Studio.

In today’s Chinese comic industry, there’s a plethora of anime series that enjoy immense popularity and consistently top video platform rankings. Fans of the Wu Dong Qian Kun anime naturally hope for an adult version of the series. However, despite the fourth season of Wu Dong Qian Kun not being adapted into an adult series and remaining a seasonal installment, there’s speculation surrounding the potential for the fifth season to take an adult-oriented direction. Yet, in my personal opinion, this seems implausible. The current production side lacks the necessary capacity for such a transformation.

The current producer of the Wu Dong Qian Kun animation isDC Impression Vision, a national comic company that isn’t particularly robust, and its scale cannot be considered large. It falls short compared to larger national comic companies like Sparkly Key(Xuanji Company), Foch Company, and Original Force Company. Their capacity to deliver a yearly show is genuinely challenging and unrealistic. Even a bi-annual production may pose difficulties for them to execute successfully. Hence, their capability seems limited to quarterly shows at most, making an annual show a distant prospect for them.

2. Their capacity for animation production is subpar, with maximum output in creating recent works.

The second reason is that the producers of Wu Dong Qian Kun anime lack production expertise. Consider the outcome of Wu Dong Qian Kun Season 04. Although tasked with creating a quarterly series with only 12 episodes per season, they were given a two-year time frame. Logically, this time frame should be enough to release 02 seasons. However, it took them two years to produce a single season with 12 episodes. So the final result was shockingly poor, much worse than in previous years.

The 12 episodes took two years to produce, but in terms of quality, fall short of the standards set by annual series that require weekly updates to stay connected. While daily work is required to meet weekly deadlines, it is important to recognize that the annual series faces a tight schedule. With limited time for refinement, achieving excellence is a challenge. However, despite fewer episodes, the fourth season of Wu Dong Qian Kun fails to match the quality of the long-running series. It raises doubts about their ability to handle season five as an adult series.

The copyright owner of Wu Dong Qian Kun is not unaware of DC Impression Vision’s abilities as the producer of the animation. It seems like wishful thinking on the part of fans to expect them to take over the fifth season as an adult version. Moreover, given DC Impression Vision’s limitations in both capacity and production quality, attempting an annual edition seems daunting. It is even more doubtful that DC Impression would dare to take up such a challenge, even if the copyright owner requested it.

Now, it appears highly likely that the fifth season of Wu Dong Qian Kun will remain a seasonal series, with each season comprising 12 episodes. At most, it might extend to a bi-annual series with over 20 episodes. Transforming it into an adult series seems entirely unfeasible unless there’s a change in producers. However, finding a suitable replacement company currently poses a challenge. The limitations of the current producers of Wu Dong Qian Kun Animation prevent them from handling an annual version effectively.

That’s it for now! What are your thoughts on what we should negotiate for? Don’t forget to continue the conversation or share your thoughts. See you in another interesting article.

Happy Donghua!
