After Dong Zhuo set Luoyang ablaze, the coalition forces from Guandong and the Xiliang army clashed at Hulao Pass. Guan Yu and Zhang Fei assisted their elder brother in the legendary battle of the Three Heroes against Lü Bu, during which Liu Bei finally rose to fame. In secret, Lü Bu coerced scattered soldiers to aid him in assassinating Dong Zhuo. On their way to Chang’an, these soldiers encountered Yuan Shao’s forces but were rescued by Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei. Liu Bei mistakenly thought Liao Yuanhuo was Zhao Yun (Zilong).
Inside Chang’an, the scattered soldiers joined forces with Lü Bu to fight against the Xiliang generals led by Li Ru. Both sides engaged in a fierce battle of wits and courage, ultimately leading to the deaths of Li Ru and Dong Zhuo.
